Introduction

 

Caring for the environment is becoming an increasingly important focal point at the University of Groningen. Reductions in the environmental impact on the soil, air and water are set out in the regulations that form part of environmental permits. The AMD is the responsible party in applying for permits and the agreements made between units and the government, bearing in mind the possibilities and specific details of the University organization.

In addition, a number of advisory and operational tasks are performed with regard to:

• management of the many waste flows
• cutting back on energy and water use
• sustainable business operation
