Introduction

The University of Groningen Occupational Social Work Section

The University of Groningen Social work section

Problems and restrictions make it difficult to work efficiently. The occupational social worker provides expertise on how to deal with these problems and to find solutions. There may be problems in the workplace that influence employees’ private lives, or vice versa. The occupational social work section aims to improve the wellbeing of employees, and thereby improve their motivation and ability to work.

The occupational social work section provides the following services:

  • short-term individual psychological help (4-6 sessions)
  • guidance during sick leave and reintegration
  • aid to groups and departments (such as trauma support)
  • support during the application procedure for assistance from the social fund (in cases of financial difficulty)
  • guidance and mediation in cases of cooperation difficulties
  • advice and consultation for managers and HR personnel
  • coaching of individuals and groups
  • training courses/workshops, for example on bullying or ‘energetic staff’ (identification of stress).
