The Health, Safety & Environment Service (AMD) of the University of Groningen offers advice and support to the Board of the University and the local management of the administrative units in the implementation of policy with regard to working conditions, the environment and radiation as well as compliance with the legal obligations involved in these fields.
In addition, it provides information and advice to the representative bodies concerned.
The AMD supports the management and maintenance of the health, safety and environmental system of the University, in close consultation and cooperation with the local health, safety and environmental coordinators and work groups.

The consultative bodies also play an important role in this process –
they must approve the policy plans in the field of health, safety and environmental matters and monitor the implementation of these plans.

In the field of working conditions, the Health, Safety and Environment Service offers at least the core activities stated in the Working Conditions Act:
