Alumni Relations & Fundraising

The University of Groningen has high hopes you will stay in touch with us as well as your classmates after graduation. For instance to exchange knowledge, for social purposes or to develop your career.

The department of Alumni Relations & Fundraising supports and organizes activities and services for alumni. For us it is important that there is a mutual involvement between the university and its alumni. We offer various possibilities for further education and career counselling. Through the Alumni Network, the e-community for former students, you can contact other alumni all over the world. In our free magazine Broerstraat 5 (Dutch only), which is automatically sent to you after graduation, you can read up on university developments and current research.

Many former students take initiative and start an alumni club. The RUG currently has over 30 alumni clubs. As well, alumni contact people are active within the Faculties, organizing activities for alumni.

Inversely, you can make sure your university counts on a global scale. You may for example become an ambassador for the RUG, or be a guest speaker or contact for possible internships. You may financially support research, education and important projects. Given the rapidly increasing competition universities face internationally, fundraising is becoming more and more important for the RUG. For this reason, the Ubbo Emmius Fund was founded in 1998.
