Audience
You are fascinated by people and their behaviour. You are interested in learning more about theories on human behaviour. You are not deterred by a large amount of statistics. You are capable of planning ahead, working independently, and you do not hate a tight structure and organisation of the study. In other words, you are not afraid of a challenging programme.
Course description
The three year bachelor's degree starts with a propedeutical phase that is equal to all students. You will follow basic courses such as biopsychology, developmental and social psychology and statistics. You also learn practical skills such as dialogue, conducting interviews, and collecting data. In mentor groups you will learn how to analyze texts and write papers. The second year offers courses such as labor-and organization psychology and clinical and health psychology. The practical skills are further developed. In addition you will be taught statistics and research methods. You can apply these right away in the practicum in which you will design and conduct research in small groups. In the third year you can choose a differentiation route (major) and a minor. This can consist of courses within or outside of the psychology curriculum. You also have the opportunity to go abroad in the first semester of the third year. The third year will be concluded with a bachelor's thesis.
Students who have successfully completed the Bachelor’s programme have the option of further study and a specialisation in the one-year Master of Science in Psychology programme. The Master’s programme consists of two specialisation courses, a skills practicum, a methodology course, two electives, and a Master’s thesis. Conditional admission to the Master’s programme is possible after completion of at least 165 ECTS of the Bachelor’s programme including the Bachelor’s thesis.
