The Royal Dutch Institute in Rome (KNIR) Research Research Meetings

Colloquia

The KNIR Colloquia are small-scale, exclusive expert meetings. This programme offers early- and mid-career researchers the opportunity to strengthen their research profile by organising an international workshop in Rome on a topic that is central to their own research.

The topic should be directly or indirectly related to the KNIR research profile and/or to Rome. In general, a KNIR Colloquium consists of a two-day programme with a maximum of 15 participants (including the organiser).

The programme is aimed at assistant professors and lecturers holding a PhD, working at one of the Dutch universities that support KNIR (UvA, RUG, UL, RU, UU and VU). Researchers who currently do not benefit from major external research funding (such as NWO or ERC), or whose teaching load limits the further development of their research profile, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The new call for the academic year 2026–2027 will be published in due course.
