Special Collections
The special collections are the gems of our extensive collection of scientific heritage. Because of their origin, composition or otherwise, several special works of the KNIR Library are unique and of special value to our Institute.
The library houses more than one thousand early printed works, largely dating from the sixteenth through the eighteenth century. These include atlases, maps, architectural treatises, travel accounts, and much more, primarily relating to Italy and Rome.
Our special collections further consist of:

Materials from our special collections have played a central role in various research and educational projects. Access to the projects that have been completed will be made available here.
In the meantime, we continue to improve the accessibility and research potential of our special collections through reorganization, metadata enhancement, and digitization.
