Request from another library

UMCG-staff and students can place a request for a book or an article via the button: Request from another library. Also possible during the corona closure.

Articles:

  1. Go to PubMed via this special link (or one of our other databases)
    If you open PubMed via the special link above or via the website of the Central Medical Library www.rug.nl/cmb , you will see the red Get it! button under each article.
  2. Click 'Get it!'
    Have you found an article? Click on Get it! to see if it is in our collection. If that is the case, you will normally go straight to the pdf of the article.
Get it
  1. Click ‘ Request from another library’
    However, if the article is not available, you will enter the SmartCat screen. There you can click on the "Request from another library" button to request the article from another library.

  1. Sign in
    Please sign in in with:
    • your UMCG account (UMCG e-mail address and corresponding password). Click 'Log-in voor UMCG'
    • your student account (student number and password). Click Log-in for UG

  1. Check the request form....
    • Please make sure to select 'Copy' for requesting an article or chapter
    • Are you requesting for the first time? Please enter the number of your UMCG card (backside) in the Barcode field
    • Select 'Organization': UMCG Staff (if you work at the UMCG or the medical faculty). Only select University of Groningen if you are a student.

      .... and click Submit Request


      Can't find the article in PubMed?
      Then complete the form below. We will check if we can request the article for you.

      Do you want to request for it urgently?
      Please do not hesitate to contact us



Books:

1.   Find the book in our catalogue SmartCat (select as a filter: Held by Libraries WorldWide)

Request from another library

2.   Click on 'Request from another library'
Please note that this button only appears when the book is not available at the CMB or UB.

3.  Sign in
Please sign in with:

  • your UMCG account (UMCG e-mail address and corresponding password). Click 'Log-in voor UMCG'
  • your student account (student number and password). Click Log-in for UG

4. Check the request form....

  • Please make sure to select 'Loan' for requesting a book
  • Are you requesting for the first time? Please enter the number of your UMCG card (backside) in the Barcode field
  • Indicate whether you would like to collect your book from the CMB, the UB City Centre or the UB Zernike.
  • Select 'Organization': UMCG Staff

    .... and click Submit Request

Frequently asked questions

PubMed

  • I can't find the article
    Sometimes an article can't be found in PubMed. Then you can fill out this form. We will check if we can request the publication for you.

Urgent request

  • How can I submit an urgent request?
    Articles are usually delivered within a few days. Do you need it faster? Then contact us, we will request the article urgently.

PDF article

  • Are there any other options to get hold of the PDF of an article?  
    Yes there are. You can find every conceivable way here: 'How to get the PDF'

Google Scholar

  • I am using Google Scholar and want to check whether a certain article is included in our collection
    Activate the Get it! button: go to Google Scholars menu > Settings > Library Links, and select: University of Groningen Library – Get It!
