Big Data

The Fieldlab Target Mining Big Data builds on expertise from the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute, the Data Science and Systems Complexity (DSSC) and the Center for Information Technology (CIT) to facilitate entrepreneurs and researchers with the development, testing and implementation of innovative services that utilize Big Data. The facility initially offers three main domains to respond to requests from the region (businesses and research): Data Tracing & Validation, VR 360 Imaging (VR layer), and Sensor Data.

Several components of the fieldlab are already available to researchers and businesses who aim to exploit the potential of their data. Thanks to the versatile nature of the data layers and the long-standing expertise of the fieldlab, data can be mined at different levels of the software stack. This enables the Target Big Data (Access) Layer to provide common services to the different Data Federations using the underlying WISE Technology. The fieldab welcomes additional domains from the second year onward to accommodate further requests from the region.
