DCC workshop: Reproducible Software - Container Approach

Join this workshop to get direct practical advice on creating reproducible research workflows using container technologies within the University of Groningen. In approx. 4 hours, the DCC will walk you through the essentials of using containers to ensure your research can be reliably reproduced—covering concepts, best practices, available tools, and practical examples—while leaving plenty of time for questions.

The workshop is aimed at all researchers and research supporters of the University of Groningen and will cover:

• Reproducible Research with Containers
  • Benefits of containerisation
  • Common tools (Docker, Binder, GitHub codespaces, command line interface)
• Creating and Sharing Containerised Workflows

Prerequisites for Participants

•  Laptop
• Docker installed:
  Windows, Mac, Linux
• ~20 GB free disk space
• Terminal access (Linux/macOS/Windows)

Optional but Helpful

• Basic command-line familiarity
• GitHub account

• GitHub Student Developer Pack (students) or GitHub Teacher Toolbox (staff)
