More activities will be announced in the course of the Aletta Year.
Opening of the academic year
Monday 6 September will mark the official opening of the 408th academic year at the University of Groningen. The start of the academic year will once again feature the expansion of the portrait gallery, which the University has been rejuvenating over the past few years. More portraits of female academics will also be mounted. The oldest portraits hung in the University’s Senate Room date from 1618.
European Researchers’ Night: two Aletta’s Kitchen talk shows
On 24 September, European Researchers’ Night takes place across the continent, including in Forum Groningen. An important part of this night is the FOOD IQ project: a series of public events that revolve around healthy eating. The programme includes two Aletta’s Kitchen talk shows held in Forum Groningen, featuring performances from food scientists, foodies and experts by experience, as well as musical performances.
The UG is working together with Hanze University of Applied Sciences and the UMCG on this edition of European Researchers’ Night.
