Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health Agenda

Call for Aletta topics 2024

The Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health is both a connector and a pioneer in Public Health. Last year, we defined a number of themes in public health that we wanted to contribute to in 2023, such as Planetary Health, Women & Health, and Healthy cities. For next year, we’d like to define the themes together with you!

Call for input

Which public health theme would you like to put in the Aletta-spotlight in 2024? We are looking for relevant public health themes to which we can contribute with network meetings, Aletta Dives, working groups, research stays or other activities. In other words: what should we as Aletta put on the agenda for next year? Fill in the form so we can work together for more healthy years!

How to participate

Please pitch the theme that you would like to work on in collaboration with us at Aletta in 2024 (max 300 words). Questions that should be answered are:

  • Why this topic/theme?

  • Why now?

  • What kind of activity would you like us to help you organize?

  • How would transdisciplinary collaboration on this theme contribute to improvements in public health?

  • Who would you like to work with? If possible, name academic disciplines as well as societal partners (policy makers, municipalities, health insurers, et cetera)

  • How will you contribute to the event/activity?

  • What do you see as follow-up for the event/activity?

We welcome submissions from all academic staff at Hanze/NHL Stenden/UG/UMCG as well as submissions from societal partners who are looking for collaborations with researchers. Submissions can be in Dutch or English.

Please submit your pitch here!

What’s on offer?

In 2024, we will organize around 3 Aletta Dives and a number of network meetings. If you have a different idea you are welcome to pitch it! For all meetings, we offer event management, catering, a location and an event budget. We support the planning of the event and work together with you on event, output and follow-up. In addition, we can connect you to several types of partners, in order to make as big an impact as possible. So there is a lot on offer, but first and foremost this is a collaboration!

Selection process

We will look at all proposals and see which topics emerge as the most important and suitable for 2024. We might make combinations between proposals that relate to the same theme. Eventually, we will draft an event programme for 2024 and invite the people who submitted the selected activities for a meeting about how we will shape the organizing process.

Your application is very important to us. It is self-evident that we will not be able to allocate all applications, but they will all serve as very important guidance for the direction we take with our organization. In case we have to make difficult choices between various applications, we will consult our Scientific Steering Committee.

Deadline

Please send in your proposal before 30 January 2024. We will get back to you before at end of January.

We are looking forward to receiving your ideas and working with you on more healthy years!
