Research Master in Philosophy

The Research Master in Philosophy provides a thorough grounding in philosophical research. This two-year programme gives you the skills to analyze complex arguments and problems, and the ability to present ideas in a clear rigorous manner. It prepares you to do a PhD in philosophy and provides expertise for jobs where research skills are needed such as think tank, consultancy and journalism. With our flexible curriculum you can pursue your own research interest.

Work with internationally renowned staff

Groningen's internationally renowned staff have expertise in most areas of philosophy, with particular strengths in early modern philosophy, ethics, metaethics, social and political philosophy, feminism, philosophy of mind, (formal) epistemology, logic, and the philosophy of science.

Design your own programme

The programme offers instruction in core philosophical questions and allows you to pick electives and tutorials geared towards your particular interests. Choose one of the three specializations offered in our faculty.
