The University Museum displays the scientific collections of the University of Groningen. You can see for instance: the first electromagnetic car in the world, a mummy from Egypt, medical and astronomical instruments, anatomical models, ethnological collections and many other pieces from the 400-year old heritage of the University of Groningen. The permanent exhibition demonstrates the process of scientific research. The portrait gallery of university professors is on display in the 'Academiegebouw'. In addition to the permanent displays, the museum organizes exhibitions about recent scientific developments. The museum also organizes guided tours through the museum and the city centre of Groningen (Rondje RUG).
