Illuminate your research in artwork at the UB

The SHA_RE installation at the UB
The SHA_RE installation at the UB

The UG research shines in the heart of the city. Join the new edition of SHA_RE, a light artwork by Peter Musschenga commissioned by the Groningen University Fund (GUF) and displayed at the University of Groningen Library (UB).

New edition

For UG's 400th anniversary, artist Peter Musschenga created a light installation at the UB City Centre. Also visible from the Broerplein, it artistically showcases UG research in the public sphere. A decade later, for the UG Lustrum 2024, Musschenga is updating the installation with 8,000 new images and videos.

Who can join?

All UG researchers are invited to contribute their photos, videos and other visual materials. Be a part of this luminous celebration!

How does the installation work?

Stored in a secure UB database, thousands of photos, videos and texts are projected onto a large digital grid of LED panels. Constantly changing, the visuals cascade over the LED panels on each floor and showcase UG's collective research journey in an artistic manner.

How to contribute?

Share images that tell your research story – from field research photos to (laboratory) videos, infographics, models, schemes, and more. Any visual materials produced during your UG research are welcome, as long as they are not too small (at least 1000 pixels) and have no logos. No pre-editing is needed.

Submission method

Please send your visuals to studio pjot.nl including your faculty/institute name. For secure sharing of large files, you may consider using Unishare or SURFfilesender.

Timeline

Please send your images from December 2023 to February 2024. In May 2024, they will be displayed in the new edition of the SHA_RE artwork. As the database will be continuously updated, contributions thereafter are always welcome.

Questions?

For more information, feel free to email Peter Musschenga at studio pjot.nl or check the artist's website.
