"UMCG Anywhere" does NOT provide direct access to the digital library

05 October 2022

The new virtual desktop of the UMCG is called "UMCG Anywhere" In this desktop you unfortunately work off-campus. That means that you do not have direct access to the digital library, such as our e-journals and e-books.

What is the easiest way to get to the digital collection at home?

If you want access to e-books, e-journals, all other digital resources and services of the library, from OUTSIDE the UMCG / RUG network, we advise to:

  • Please note: 'UMCG Anywhere' and the Next Gen laptops do NOT automatically give access to our digital collection.
  • It is always good to start at the CMB library website. All the resources and pages have links that also trigger the proxy-login. (this is a good alternative, when not using the Leanlibrary extension.)

The virtual desktop of the UG is called the UWP (uwp.rug.nl). You always have direct access to our entire digital collection in the UWP.

Other useful tools for access

Lean Library: the library in your browser

Add our browser extension now to your browser EDGE in the "UMCG Anywhere" and at home!: anywhere, anytime access to our online information resources, for your desktop or laptop.
(We furthermore advice you to login into the EDGE browser with your UMCG-account, and choose to synchronize. This way your extensions, like LeanLibrary will stay available.)

(not yet for tablets/mobile)

Contact the library (cmb@umcg.nl) if you want help, or more info.
