S.J. (Sonja) van Tuinen-Pyott

My research aims to understand the cellular and molecular basis of inner ear function and use this insight to develop new strategies to prevent and treat hearing and balance disorders.  To achieve this goal, I use an interdisciplinary toolkit to investigate function of the inner ear across levels of biological organization, from molecules to circuit-level behavior, in various animal models and patients.
