Research interests

A relevant part of my research is devoted to hybrid control systems. I am interested in switching control for uncertain and/or time-varying systems, and the design of logic-based supervisors with adaptive memory. Another research line focuses on mode-observability in switched systems, with applications to monitoring and control.

Recently, I have been working on the analysis and control of network systems, addressing the problem of detecting topology variations in dynamical networks. A parallel line of research focuses on resilient control for networked systems in the presence of denial-of-service.

I am also interested in optical systems. In the last few years, I have been actively working, in collaboration with the National Institute for Astrophysics, Italy, on the design of real-time control systems for adaptive optics of ground-based telescopes. This research also led me to investigate the problem of designing controllers from experimental data.
