K.P. van den Bos
I received my academic education from 1968-1974 at Groningen University, Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, with majors in Special Education, and minors in Experimental Psychology and Psycholinguistics. From 1974 to 1975 I spent one year at the University of Western Ontario (London, Canada) as a research associate of prof. Allan Paivio. From 1975 to present I am affiliated with the Department of Special Education at the University of Groningen . My teaching is on cognitive psychology and learning disabilities (dyslexia especially), and these themes are my research focus as well.
In 1983, I obtained a PhD-degree with the doctoral thesis entitled Verbal and spatial information processing in learning-disabled and non-disabled children . In 2004 I was appointed as a professor in special education, reading disabilities and dyslexia. I am a member of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), the Stichting Dyslexie Nederland (SDN), and the International Academy of Research in Learning Disabilities (IARLD).
Recently, my research focus is on processes of naming, phonological awareness, and imagery capacities as related to reading disabilities.
