dr. K.A.M. Janssens
Karin Janssens (1984) is postdoctoral researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center Psychopathology and Emotion Regulation (ICPE) of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG).
She completed her PhD project about the etiology of medically unexplained symptoms in adolescents, which was part of the Tracking Adolescents’ Individual Lives Survey (TRAILS), in October 2011. Her research concentrated on biological, psychological and social risk factors for the development of medically unexplained symptoms. After her PhD project, she continued examining the etiology of medically unexplained symptoms in adolescents.
She now also studies the etiology of functional somatic syndromes in adults, particularly, chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome and fibromyalgia within the LifeLines cohort. Moreover, she is involved in the iLab, a facility that supports idiographic research within the university center for psychiatry.
