My research revolves around how competing bird species adapt to climate change. To this end I am working on great tits (residents) and pied flycatchers (long distance migrants), two common passerines in our nest box population in Dwingelderveld. More specifically I am interested in how the life history of these species affects their adjustment to conditions on the breeding grounds. Furthermore, I study the consequences of differences in these adjustments (phenotypic plasticity vs genetic changes) for competitive interactions between these species.
