Oxidation States as a Lens for Catalytic Design: this project uses a combined computational and spectroscopic approach to connect our empirical chemical notions of bonding and structure (e.g. the oxidation state) in organometallic complexes with the underlying quantum theories. In this way, a platform is provided from which to launch new endeavours into rational design of more sustainable catalysts, based on e.g. iron and gold.
