Research interests

Immunological regulation of airway function, in particular with regard to the pathophysiology of chronic inflammatory obstructive airway diseases like asthma and COPD. Development of new pharmacological approaches for drug treatment.

Current projects

Small airways in COPD: relationship between airway structure and function.

Evaluation of the anti-inflammatory and anti-remodelling effects of the novel beta2-agonist olodaterol, alone and in combination with tiotropium, in an animal model of COPD.

Effects of (combinations of) beta-adrenoceptor agonists and muscarinic receptor antagonists in intrapulmonary airway constriction.

Laminin alpha4 and laminin alpha5 as regulators of airway inflammation and remodelling in allergic asthma.
