I studied history, political science and public governance at the KU Leuven in Belgium. After working for some time in the EU's 'Brussels bubble', I returned fulltime to academia in 2016, when I started my PhD in political science as a teaching assitant at Ghent University. After completion in 2021, I started working as lecturer in European politics and society at the University of Groningen, while also obtaining a postdoctoral fellowship at Ghent University. I also teach as visiting professor and guest lecturer at Ghent University and the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
My research focuses on the Europeanisation of national politics, and more specifically national political parties. In a broader sense, I am interested in how democracy works in the post-national, multilevel political system that is the EU. My research has been published in edited volumes and journals such as Governance and Politics and Res Publica. I also regularly engage in public lectures and the public debate.
