prof. dr. A.S.H. Gouw
Annette S.H.Gouw, born in Bandung (Indonesia) 1953, completed the study of Medicine and residency of Pathology at the University MedicaI Center of Groningen (UMCG), the Netherlands. In 1986 she became staff member and consultant in hepatobiliary pathology at the dept. of Pathology at UMCG and finalized her PhD thesis on human liver allograft rejection in 1988. To increase her knowledge in liver pathology she went to Dr. Bernard Portmann at the lnstitute of Liver Studies at King's College HospitaI, London,UK in 1992. Her diagnostic activities cover the whole spectrum of liver, biliary tract and pancreatic pathology including liver transplant pathology as liver transplantation was already started at the UMCG in 1979. In 2010 she was appointed Professor in Pathology with special interest in liver and biliary tract Pathology. This chair represents the only chair in Liver Pathology in the Netherlands.
She participates in several international collaborative groups of liver pathologists which address several topics in liver pathology, e.g. the classification of early hepatocellular carcinoma, hepatocellular adenoma and the updates of the Banff classification of liver transplant pathology.
