How to find us A.B. (Aldine) Aaten, MSc

A.B. Aaten, MSc

In 2007 I earned an MSc in mathematics as well as a Mathematics Teaching degree ('eerstegraads') from Leiden University. I have been teaching mathematics at various levels and places: in secondary and tertiary education, to mathematics students, future mathematics teachers and to non-mathematics students, in the Netherlands and in Belgium.

What has always interested me are the difficulties students encounter when learning and doing mathematics. My MSc thesis was titled "Ik begreep er niets van - het leek wel algebra" (I did not understand anything of it - it looked like algebra) which was a description of how undergraduate mathematics students study mathematics. Currently I work on a PhD research project on mathematical reasoning by undergraduate mathematics students, in a double doctorate at the KU Leuven and the University of Groningen.
