Groningen will have its own Museum Night on saterday 9 September 2017 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.

5 museums for 5 euro
With a passe-partout you can visit 5 museums in the city of Groningen for only 5 euro in total. Tickets are available from Thursday 13 July 10 a.m. in the online pre-sale. Print your ticket and go to the entrance desk at the Groninger Museum, to get a wristband with which you get entry to all of the 5 museums between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. during the Groningen Museum Night.

Programme

1. #Groninger Museum

Take a look at the popular exhibition Hide & Seek featuring the work of designer Maarten Baas, listen to live music performances in the museum or dance along to the silent disco. The museum café will be serving special museum cocktails but you can also drink tea in the tea ceremony featured in the exhibition The World at Home . Art media platform Kunstspot will be interviewing artist Gabriel Lester and designer Maarten Baas. Plus: there are guided tours, creative workshops and a magician from Dutch television show Mindf*ck will be performing artistic tricks in the museum. Of course, you will want to share the best photos you take in the photo booth on social media! Details of this and more of the programme can be found at

2. #GRID Grafisch Museum

Hot printing, hot jazz
At GRID, the graphic design and printing museum, you can experiment with old-school printing equipment or indulge yourself on the risograph, the tool of choice for today’s hottest print artists. Take your inspiration from the jazz performed by saxophone orchestra Hans Bosch or music by singer-songwriter Jop Luberti. Of course, you can also view the exhibition Paper unfolding: fourteen stories about people of Groningen and their paper.

3. #University Museum

Gelukkig Gezond! Histories of Healthy Ageing
At Groningen University Museum, the theme of Museum Night is Gelukkig Gezond! Histories of Healthy Ageing. Music to make you happy from singer-songwriter Eva Waterbolk, captivating guided tours, dancing, healthy and delicious food and drink and much more. If you’re in the mood, there’s also an opportunity to test your temperament!

4. #Noordelijk Scheepvaartmuseum

Groningen Coffee, Tin Cans & Indie Rock
Blik op de 50’s in 50 blikken (The 50s in 50 tin cans):
Listen to a talk by Carin van de Wal, curator at the Behouden blik museum of tin cans and memorabilia. Enjoy a nostalgic look back to the good days and the times of post-war reconstruction, housing shortages and the first new housing projects (19.30, 21.00, 22.30 and 00.00). There's also Indie rock from Vera’s Charm: Groningen-based indie rock band sing catchy and quirky tunes with a raw edge.
Or take a look at the exhibition devoted to three centuries of coffee roasting in the northern Netherlands Koffie, vers(ch) gebrand and enjoy a freshly-roasted cup of coffee from the StadskoffieBranderij coffee house: Barista Sandro roasts the beans there and then for coffee with added bite!

5. #Stripmuseum

Kakhiel and other classics
The Stripmuseum comic strip museum is paying tribute to the recently-deceased comic strip artist Jan Kruis with a major exhibition devoted to his life and work. There are also exhibitions on Tina 50 jaar! andDisney cartoonist Daan Jippes . Museum Night will also feature additional activities including free guided tours and workshops. Especially for Museum Night, the Stripmuseum has extended its exhibition on the internet phenomenon Kakhiel .
