Art and culture


Cultural Student Centre Usva is the cultural facility of the University of Groningen. The Usva wants to inspire students with art and culture and stimulate them to develop (further) in this area. Through courses, theatre performances, events, subsidies and work experience places, Usva offers students, but also employees and Stadjers, the opportunity to get acquainted with and to immerse themselves in culture in an accessible way. Usva is located on the Munnekeholm.

The University Museum

The University Museum will introduce the public to the history of science and the rich university tradition of the RUG. The UM has been in existence since 1934 and has a multifaceted collection. For example, think of the Groningen academic heritage, and also medicine, mathematics and natural sciences, psychology, ethnological collections, and the historical collection that consists of approximately 80,000 objects. The University Museum can be found at the Oude Kijk in 't Jatstraat 7A.

Short courses and public lectures

In Studium Generale Groningen, the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences work together. SGG organises innovative and multidisciplinary activities in the field of science, culture and society. The varied programme, which includes lectures, films and debates, is aimed at a wide audience of students, teachers and other interested parties from the city and region. Studium Generale sharpens the mind and broadens your horizon.
