We present on the basis of the Green Function method, the explicit exponential growth of the performances of hexagonal photonic crystals (PC) microcavity induced by increased surrounding layer number. The same growth pattern was found for PCs with different rod parameters while featuring distinctly different growth rates. These enhancement characteristics are nicely correlated with the associated Bloch wave decay constant calculated using the extented plane wave method.
