Spiral multiferroics whose ferroelectricity is induced by spatially modulated spins attract a lot of attention because of their strong magnetoelectric coupling. The same mechanism works for inhomogeneous magnetic structures in usual magnets, such as domain walls and magnetic vortexes. It is shown experimentally and theoretically that the domain wall in iron garnet films has electric polarization which can be switched by an external magnetic field. The nucleation of vortex and antivortex states of magnetic nanodots by electric field is theoretically predicted and numerically simulated. The electric field control of magnetic nanostructures might be interesting for applications in low-power-consumption spintronic and magnonic devices.
