In this presentation, synthetic and fabrication approaches to new organic, inorganic, and hybrid materials for unconventional electronic applications are presented. The covered issues are: 1. Rational design, realization, and understanding of new electrically-active high-mobility n-type (electron-transporting) organic semiconductors. 2. Development of new solution phase processes for thin-film deposition of inorganic/hybrid semiconductors. 3. Development of new solution processable dielectrics exhibiting high capacitance, low leakage, and high breakdown fields. The combinations of these materials set allow the fabrication of electronic circuits exhibiting complementary properties compared to current-generation devices. Regarding point 1, routes to and properties of, new p -conjugated electron-transporting polymers are described. Point 2 addresses the efficient utilization of transparent metal oxide semiconductors. In the latter topic, organic-inorganic dielectric composites are described and insights into their conduction mechanism investigated by VT experiments. These materials are then used to fabricate high-performance printed thin film transistors, CMOS circuits, and displays.
