Combustion can be used to transmit spatially-encoded
information as temporally-encoded electromagnetic energy. Small flames can act as a local oscillator to transmit information in the near-infrared. Is this chemistry? Is this information technology? From the minutiae of new tools for characterizing electroactive materials through new classes of conjugated polymers and electroluminescent materials for displays, this talk will pose the broader questions of how chemistry and information can interact.
