Tubular j-aggregate systems are interesting materials that can be used a templates for photochemical growth of nanomaterials. The oxidation of the aggregates is studied both in solution and on solid substrates by monitoring changes to the absorption and emission spectra during electrochemistry. Singular value decomposition is utilized to extract spectral changes and match them with the kinetics measured during the voltametry. Assignments of the various oxidation products are verified with semi-empirical quantum calculations.
