Arrays of nano-structures are very promising models to investigate mechanical and thermodynamical properties at the nanoscale. In particular, cylindrical disks, in thermal contact with the substrate, are suitable to study the dynamical heat exchange at the solid interface. We investigate the dynamical properties of an ordered array of permalloy nano-disks through time-resolved reflectivity and TR-MOKE experiments. Using these experiments, it is possible to study the heat-exchange process between the dot and the substrate without perturbing the sample with an external probe in mechanical contact with the sample. The TR-MOKE results are discussed in terms of a piezomagnetic effect induced by the radial vibration of the permalloy nano-dots. These results are the prelude for the study of the thermodynamical properties of tiny systems across an electronic or magnetic phase transition.
