The 2DIR lineshapes are affected by conformational fluctuations through their effect on the vibrational frequencies and intermode couplings. These effects were simulated in trialanine using a Green's function solution of a stochastic Liouville equation. It is found that the fluctuations of the Ramachandran angles which hardly affect the linear absorption can effectively be probed by 2DIR.

This lecture is part of the MSC mini-symposium New developments in two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy. Please pre-register with Margriet Derix if you wish to attend one or more of its three lectures.
