Frustration of magnetic and orbital ordering gives rise to avariety of fascinating phenomena. While the suppression of spin ordering usually occurs in antiferromagnets, in which nearest-neighbor spins form triangles (geometrical frustration), the orbital frustration is more generic. It results from a strong anisotropy of orbital interactions and occurs for many types of orbitals and crystal lattices. I will discuss models of orbital frustration and mechanisms of its lifting.
