Our recent development on organic and conjugated polymeric materials for organic electronics, especially for applications in biosensors, light-emitting diodes and field effect transistors, is presented.

1. Well-defined p-n diblock conjugated semiconducting materials

A series of p-n diblock conjugated oligomers or polymers with well-defined molecular structures were synthesized and characterized. The relationship between optoelectric properties and structures was investigated. This work aims to obtain a controllable way of preparation of electroluminescent materials with balanced charge injection and transport.

2. PPV and PPE based conjugated polymers and their uses in biosensors

Water-soluble conjugated polymers based on PPV and PPE are synthesized and characterized. These materials are good candidates for chemo- and /or biosensors that exhibit rapid and collective response to relatively small perturbations in local environment.
