Novel Preparation Method and Advanced Applications of Janus particles
Janus particles, which are traditionally composed of two chemically or biologically distinct regions, have recently received growing attention in a variety of research fields, as biological sensors, optical sensing devices, nanomotors, two-phase stabilizers, and electronic displays, as well as for the asymmetric particle assembly of complex nanostructures.
In our research, a novel preparation method was used to synthesis Janus inorganic and metal particles with the assistance of carbon dioxide. This new preparation method offers not only good control of the geometry (Janus balance) over a wide range, but also allows producing relatively large quantities of Janus particles. We also focus on the further exploring on the advanced applications of these Janus nanoparticles, by combining them with block copolymers, enzymes and other smart materials.
