Quantum Dynamics

Spin system
Spin system

Our approach to study the dynamical properties of a quantum system is to solve numerically, and without additional approximations, the time-dependent Schrödinger equation for the model Hamiltonian.
We are currently working on

  • The simulation of electron-spin-resonance (ESR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments on nanoscale magnets
  • Transport properties of graphene
  • Quantum dynamics of molecular magnets and diluted magnets
  • Quantum annealing
  • The simulation of physical realizations of quantum computer hardware
  • Fundamental questions of the foundations of statistical physics mainly such as the question how a system of interacting particles dynamically evolves to a stationary state (e.g. thermal equilibrium)
