Mental Health in Early Career Researchers: Mindfulness
|When:||Mo 14-06-2021 12:00 - 13:30|
Mental health is crucial for successfully working in academia. Research, education, and outreach are mentally challenging tasks. The needed capacities to concentrate, think creatively, teach inspiringly, solve challenging questions, translate knowledge to society, interact with a large number of students, and collaborate in international interdisciplinary teams require a good mental health or even “mental flourishing”.
In a series of webinars, the Young Academy Groningen puts mental health in early career researchers on the agenda. With experts from different backgrounds, we will discuss the following questions: What aspects of university life challenge our mental health? What can we do to enhance our mental wellbeing? What can we learn from other disciplines to promote our mental wellbeing?
We will start off with a webinar on mindfulness, with dr. Maya Schroevers, Associate Professor at the UMCG and mindfulness trainer. In this webinar, dr. Schroevers will discuss what mindfulness is, but also include exercises and options to share experiences.
Date: Monday June 14th, 12-1.30PM CET
Participants: All early career researchers (=postdoctoral researchers and above) are invited.
The maximum number of participants is 40, first come, first serve! Please sign up here.
After the summer, we will continue with webinars about:
• Mental health at the University of Groningen
• Sleep and cognition
• Insights from sports psychology
