Summary

This study concentrates on local government effectiveness and the regulatory quality of decentralised local governance in Indonesia. The study will substantiate the level to which regulatory arrangements in decentralised Indonesia offer opportunity, freedom and capacities to their people, and might contribute to addressing local development and sustainability issues such as inadequate road capacities, flood risk and garbage disposal. The project will involve a single case study approach using interviews and focus group methodology. The case involves inter-local government arrangements in the Jakarta region (BKSP Jabodetabekjur).
