Several regions across the EU, including the Netherlands, are faced with the challenges of population decline. This research assesses the role of entrepreneurship in the social and economic resilience of regions that are characterized by population decline. The nature of population decline and its consequences can differ depending on the type of region it occurs in. The nature of entrepreneurship in the process of depopulation may therefore also change. The difference between decline in urban areas and decline in rural areas is therefore incorporated in the present research.
