The Evolution of the Socio-spatial Structure of Multi-ethnic Urban Villages in North Western China

The research will consist of a comparison between different multi-ethnic urban villages in the northwestern cities since 1978. It also aims to describe and analyze the evolution processes of the socio-spatial structure and the driving forces and mechanisms behind these processes for different ethnic groups like Han, Hui, Dongxiang and Tibetan. Moreover it intends to discover the effects on socio-spatial development of the multi-ethnic urban villages. Finally the research will try to make policy suggestions which could be implemented to improve the living conditions of the population involved.
