Summary

Historical overview of personal working-experiences from a general practitioner in a rural hospital in Cross River State Nigeria from 1972 till 1979. Identification of elements with a relevance for contemporary health policy discourses.

Objective of the project

The objective of the proposed research is to relate experiences in the past with contemporary health policy issues and identify lessons learned.

A description will be given of the personal experience of the researcher of the daily practice in a rural district hospital in Cross River State in Nigeria during the period between 1972 and 1979. The description will be grouped around certain health policy theme’s. Based on the historical overview lines will be drawn to contemporary health policy discourses, in which the researcher has been actively involved till recent.
