NIDI - Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute

NIDI is a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and since January 1st 20 14 affiliated with the University of Groningen. NIDI is engaged in the scientific study of population (demography) and has four main research themes: Famil ies and Generations, Migration and Migrants, Work and Retirement, and Ageing and Longevity. NIDI works together with a number of faculties of the University of Groningen including the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, on topics related primarily to the themes of healthy ageing and sustainable society. NIDI director Leo van Wissen is professor in Economic Demography at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences. Also involved are Helga de Valk, p rofessor of Migration and the Lifecourse at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences , Population Research Center, Anne Gauthier, professor of Comparative Family Studies at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences , Aart Liefbroer, professor of Demography of the Lifecourse at the University Medical Center Groningen , and Kène Henkens, professor of Ageing, Retirement and the Lifecourse, also at the University Medical Center Groningen .

DEMOS - Bulletin on Population and Society

NIDI's research results are published in national and international journals, books and reports (see the full overview of publications). In addition, NIDI publishes DEMOS, Bulletin on Population and Society. See DEMOS is a Dutch popular bulletin which is aimed at a broad, general audience in political, policy and education circles.
