  • Dr Tim Kurz visited in October 2017. He worked together with researchers in the Signature Area Markets & Sustainability and gave a seminar on November 2.
  • Prof. John Thøgersen visited in May 2017. He worked together with researchers in the Signature Area Markets & Sustainability and gave a seminar on May 18.
  • Dr Ina Taneva of the University of Edinburgh visited in March 2017. Ina's research is in the areas of mechanism design and information economics. Its focus currently is on what role information plays in influencing the equilibrium outcomes of strategic interactions. She is particularly interested in looking at how a self-interested designer can influence the behavior of a group of individuals by manipulating their informational environment. Applications of the theory include the optimal design of clinical trials and political platforms.

  • Dr Sandro Ambuehl of the University of Toronto visited in February 2017. One of Sandro's interests concerns designing policies for the exchange of goods about which people have strong ethical intuitions, as is the case, for example, with living organ donation, or when incentive systems place a price on the natural environment. In another line of research, he studies what policies help people make good financial decisions. He addresses these questions using a combination of controlled experiments and economic theory.
