A comparison is made of the predictions of an analytical1 and a numerical2 simulation model of rainfall interception in an oak forest in The Netherlands. The models have been applied to predict interception in both summer and winter conditions. The agreement with observed through-fall is good for both models in both seasons. It is argued that annual variation in canopy structure may influence rainfall interception in summer
