The subject of this study is the social-economic policy in the period 1945-1949 as carried out by the Dutch government. As such it is mainly a history of the ideas held by the various parties involved concerning the role a government can and should play and an account of the immediate postwar policy. In order to explain the fact of the general acceptance of a strong government influence on economy in 1945 the first chapter relates the factors that brought this about and contrasts them with the prewar situation. ...
