Lifelines is a multi-disciplinary prospective population-based cohort study examining in a unique three-generation design the health and health-related behaviors of more than 167,000 persons. Through its length, broadness and in-depth examination, the study provides excellent opportunities for studies worldwide unraveling the etiology of multifactorial diseases focusing on multifactor risk factors.
