Microbe Mystery - Engineered organism hints at the origins of bacteria and archaea

Billiosn of years agao the singl-celled common ancestor of life on earth split into bacteria and archaea, according to evolutionary theory. Now scientists have genetically engineered a microbe that combines features of both domains, offering insight into how this pivotal event occurred.
